Who out there is in their mid twenties learning to ice skate? I am learning and I am taking to it, I don't expect to do any competitions or anything like that but a toe loop would be nice, I am learning crossovers right now. I want to learn so that I can coach my daughter and know what to show her and stuff. She is going to be taking lessons in January. I still want to learn for myself and for her. So is there anyone else out there my age learning now? and what level are you at?

I'm not learning how to skate but I know a lot of people who didn't start until their mid thirties and are doing doubles now! Its never too late to start and I bid you good luck. Keep practicing and who knows you might even compete someday. Also my boyfriend started figure skating about a year ago and he's 21. He's doing full loops and flips now. The only thing I think that is harder for adults is getting over the fear of skating fast and jumping. That comes with time. One tip I can give you for crossovers, especially backwards is to bend your knees. If you don't you wont go anywhere!

I think it is great that you are learning with your daughter. It will make her want to keep up w/ mom. But don't let her get discouraged (or you) if one of you starts to get better than the other. It's all about having fun, and if you can do it together that's even better. Crossing over is important, lots of times people favor one leg over the other, so make sure you are working on crossing over w/ both legs as the inside leg.

people learn to skate at all ages. I love to skate, and am in Gamma hoping to pass to Delta.

+ lots of people are learning at all ages. You are right about getting the cross over as it makes the other stuff easy.

I skate and a bunch of people that are in their thirties are starting. I started when I was twelve though.
