I have been using Mk blades all of my skating life and I'm wondering if Paramount blades are made very well like suffiled steal that is used on the MK blades.
I know that Paramount has stainless steal but is that a high quality steal like on the Mk blades?
I would like to know this and please help me.
Also do those blades help your skating?
Thanks: Ebayna

They are two completely different types of blades that use different materials.

The Paramount blades are made of aircraft aluminum runners that attach to the boots. The "business end" of the blade are called runners - carbon steel inserts that are what you actually skate on.

The MK blades are made of hardened steel that's been refined, honed and polished.

MK blades will be heavier than Paramount blades because of the metals and designs.

Check with your skate sharpener or pro shop and ask if they sharpen or sell Paramount blades. If so, they can show you samples and you can compare for yourself.

A red flag would be if your regular blade sharpener does NOT sharpen Paramounts (or Jackson Matrix blades, which are similar in design.) The Paramount blades require special equipment for sharpening, so not every shop wants to invest in the technology unless they'll use it often.

I just switched from an MK Gold Star to a Jackson Matrix. The steel on the Matrix is a stainless (more nickel in them) that brings two slight results, they have a different drag on the ice, and the edge will never be as sharp as a non stainless blade.

I believe the Parmounts are stainless too.

As sharpening goes, the Matrix comes with two blade runner sets and them alone could be sharpened with conventional holders but you'd end up removing the runner each sharpen (not desirable). You should ask your sharpener if a hockey skate holder they know of will hold the Parmount blades, it should so that would be important if you were out of the area and needed sharpening.

The issues of a different glide and less of an edge can be handled with a change in hollow of the grind on bottom (the size of circle used to create the two edges, that is referred to as depth of hollow)

i had vision blades untill i was in lik fs 6 and i abs loved themmm! then i tried the paramount blades (the lighter ones) and i am in love! many people think that since they are a newer brand that they are not as good but if u have a heavier boot like sp terris like me, the light blade complements it nicely. the toe pick isnt as big as the mk pros its more like a pattern 99 toe pick.....a little bigger thanb the visions. try paramounts ull love themm! BEST WISHESS!
