a couple months ago i got custom sp terrie s and i just got them this week.my old pair of skates were jackson elite supreme. anyways i was comparing how they looked etc when i squezzed the sides of my jacksons they seemed ALOT sturdier [stiffer] then when i squezzed my new pair they didnt seem as stiff as my jacksons.im really worried that im going to break these skates in really really fast, and ill feel really bad because they were so expensive. my coach had a pair of sp terries and she broke hers down with in a month and a half..but then that was because the guy who soled them to her didnt know what level she was on..im thinking thats maybe going to be the case with me?

i skate 2-3 times a week ,sometimes only once a week depending when my mom works.
im working on double sal, toe, and loop.

so what should i do? has anyone else had this problem before? and does anyone else skate in sp terri? have you had any problems with them before?

Check with the person who ordered the skates. It might be that they ordered the wrong stiffness.

Custom skates can be ordered in custom stiffness as well as sizes, tongues, etc. There may have been a mistake - check it out before you use the skates and you might be able to exchange them. Did the fitter ask you about your skating level? It sounds like they're appropriate for you since you're working on doubles. The super-stiff skates are intended for skaters doing triples.

The Jackson Elite Supremes are super-stiff, so stiff that they can cause ankle problems in skaters because they don't have the strength to break them in properly.

At your skating level, you don't need boots that stiff, so the SP-Teris might be the correct stiffness.

Just check out the order before you write off the new skates. Ask how long they should last and what warranties go along with them at your skating level.

Good luck!

SP Teri skates are notorious for being super stiff and uncomfortable - to the point that blisters form even after the break-in time has long since elapsed. This may be the case of just adjusting to how the boot feels in comparison to your old boots, or it could be that whoever sold you those Jacksons overestimated your skating level... or the person who sold you the SP Teri skates underestimated your level.

I haven't used Jacksons (although I've heard they're even stiffer than SP Teri boots), but I've gone through a few stock SP Teri boots in my skating tenure and each have lasted a long time. If they really don't feel secure enough, see if you can either get them exchanged through the place you ordered them from, or see if they can rework them.

Good luck!

The "Stiffness" Is all dependent On the Make of Shoe. The "Stiffer" The better. If you do allot of Experienced tricks use the Jacksons But if you want to go for a skate just Use you Terrie. I Have CCM-Vector And The outside is really Hard It helps Allot.

Hope this Helps.

SP Teris are normally known for how stiff they are. I'm astonished anyone could break them down in six weeks - my daughter had a secondhand pair which looked as if they'd been through a concrete mixer on the surface and they still weren't broken down. She skated in them for 18 months, then I painted them black and my son had them for a year. They're still fine.

My daughter had her axel and double sal at the time and skated four times a week.
