Yeah, as the title says, I just bought new skates today. When I wear them, theres soooo much pressure on the inside of arches of my feet (I think thats what its called. The part that arches up from the big to the heel). Where its almost unbearable. Is that my feet? The skates? Or both? Is it because the skates are new and not broken in yet? Or should I return them for a better pair? Will the skates loosen over time? When I rent ice skates, they are perfectly fine with no problems what so every.

Please help!!!

Thanks!

What kind of skates did you get?

Usually the higher end skates take forever to break in. Are they heat moldable? This can help if they are. Were you properly fitted?

Put your foot in the skate and push your toes all the way to the top. Now, you should be able to get almost 1 finger between your heel and the skate. If you can't , it is a possibility that they are too small. If you can fit almost 1 finger, then you''ll just have to be patient.

Oh, and if they are heat moldable, DONT leave them in the hot car during the summer, you will loose the mold to your foot, trust me on this one! :o)

It might be your feet, it might be the skates. It might be both like you said! I'm pretty sure the skates aren't comfortable because they aren't broken in yet. That's just like any pair of new shoes anyone gets. Give it sometime (the skates). Just to ease the pain in your feet, try putting something in your skates to make it more comfortable. But in the meantime, skate a lot to break them in. Make sure you're safe though!!!

Yes, they will get better. Right now, the material in the skates is still tough, as you wear them, it will loosen. So just push through it for now and eventually, they will become comfortable.
